A Present for Malakai

Ok, so my baby sister is pregnant with my 1st nephew and due in May. I am going to be an Auntie! :) Malakai's room is going to have a jungle theme, and when Papertrey Ink came out with their Tiny Treats: Birthday stamp set during their last release, I was over-the-moon excited to see some cute little animals in the set! My favorite among them was the adorable little monkey, and I had to make something for Malakai's room with it! I found a plain white 3.5"x3.5" frame, the perfect size for these tiny images. Paired with the tree from Merry Little Christmas, he looks so cute just hanging out! I have plans to make another piece of wall art using the lion from this set, and maybe the hippo and elephant too! :) I added Simply Chartreuse satin dot ribbon, as my sister has chosen green as the main color of his room.

And here it is, closer to see the detail:

And just to futher share my excitement, my favorite picture from Malakai's most recent photoshoot at 24 weeks. He's waiving to his Auntie! ;) Can't wait to hold that precious little hand...

Ink: Dark Chocolate, Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Orange Zest, Tea Dye Duo

Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop!

So hard to believe that January is nearly over already! That means it's time for the PTI montly blog hop. This month, the challenge was:

With the new year comes a clean slate along with many resolutions. This month's blog hop challenge involves you challenging yourself to use a Papertrey stamp set that has yet to see ink or even one that might be collecting a little dust! Go through your stash and see what little used treasure it might hold.

I have just a few stamp sets that are uninked or underused, so I decided to other PTI products that I have neglected as well :) For my stamp sets, I chose Star Prints, which was one of my very first PTI sets, and Dot Spot, which I just purchased second hand, but had yet to ink up. Finally, I used the Seeing Stars die collection, which I have had for some time, and only used once. Here is my card, with a finished size of 4"x4".

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Star Prints, Dot Spot
Ink: Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Pure Poppy
Paper: Stampers Select White
Other: Seeing Stars dies, Prisma Glitter, pop dots

A Valentine for my Sweetheart

This card is a valentine for my sweet, wonderful, husband. We met on Valentine's Day weekend in 2000, so this time of year holds extra special meaning for us. It is so hard to believe that I have spent almost ELEVEN Valentine's Days with him... and they just keep getting better.

Isn't he just the cutest?!?! Gosh, I love him.

He is not a frilly, foo-foo kinda guy (must be the Marine Corps training!). So, his card is short, sweet, and to the point. He is my sweetheart.

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Tiny Treats Valentine, 2010 Love Tags
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Kraft, Stampers Select White, Distressed Dots

Teacup full of violets

The other day, during my daily blog hopping, I was inspired by this post by Debbie Olson. While I love the new Lockhart stamp that Debbie used, it looks a bit like a few that I have in my collection. It wasn't as easy as stamping a single image and coloring, but I think it was worth the extra effort to get a similar look without having to buy any new stamps *wink*

First, I inked the edges of the coffee cup image from PTI Warm Happiness Too, careful NOT to ink the inside portion of the cup. Then I took the tiny little flower from Little Bitty Bird and stamped some flowers with the stem, and others carefully inked not to include the stem. I stamped them randomly inside the cup, then used my green copic markers to add some dots here and there to look like leaves. To add more interst, I used a Stardust pen amongst the leaves to fill in any little empty spots. Then I masked off the cup, and used the "cup shadow" from Warm Happiness, and stamped it under the cup. I am quite happy with the finished image :) I just love making discoveries like this!! :D

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Warm Happiness, Warm Happiness Too, Little Bitty Bird
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Tea Dye Due, Lavender Moon
Paper: Lavender Moon CS, Stampers Select White CS, Happy Spots PP
Other: Lavender Moon Satin Ribbon, Mat Stack 1 die, Warm Happiness die, Chocolate Bakers Twine, Vintage Cream Button, paper doily, Copic Markers, Stardust pen

Little Bitty Bird, how I love thee!

So I finally got my hands on Papertrey Ink's new Little Bitty Bird stamp set, and I love her already. I practically ripped the box from the mail lady's hands (ok not really, but she could tell I was excited! LOL) Designed by Heather Nichols, it has the true rustic, whimsical feel that shows in all of Heather's sets. LOVE! :)

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Little Bitty Bird
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Hawaiian Shores, Tea Dye Duo
Paper: Hawaiian Shores CS, Stampers Select White CS, Happy Spots PP, Green Boutique PP

HEC January Challenge!

My friend Ted, at Happily Ever Crafter just posted his monthly challenge, and I was anxious enter. Ted's challenge was to use the following, and ONLY the following to make a card:

•ONE (1) base card (of any color)
•ONE (1) matting paper (solid or pattern is fine)
•ONE (1) stamp image (you can choose either image or sentiment, not both)
•ONE (1) ink color (Versamark for embossing can be your ONE choice)
•ONE (1) embellishment (ribbon, button, brad, flower, etc.)

You can see Ted's post here: http://www.happilyevercrafter.com/2010/12/happily-ever-challenged-13-1111.html
This was kind of tough for me... I had to resist the temptation several times to add more. LOL!

My card consists of the following:

1 card base - Plum Pudding
1 matting paper - Kraft
1 stamped image - PTI YOF: Violets
1 ink color - Fresh Snow
1 embellishment - Plum Pudding Satin Ribbon

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: YOF: Violets
Ink: Fresh Snow
Paper: Kraft, Plum Pudding
Other: Plum Pudding Satin Ribbon, Corner Rounder

Vintage Valentine

In 2011, I have promised myself that I will step outside of my comfort zone, and try new styles while stamping. I love the look of vintage, or shabby chic cards, but have yet to master the look myself. I sort of had that in head as I created this card, and I think I think how it turned out (though I still have a LONG way to go as far as shabby chic goes!). If you are a member of the Papertrey Ink message boards, you many have read a time or two (*wink*), about how much I love their Friendship Jar series of stamps. Many of us are wishing and hoping for some Valentine's fillers, and I am sure they will be offered sooner or later, but I challenged myself to find something I could use within my current collection. I decided to try out the "be mine" image from the 2010 Love tags, and the "stick" fillers from the Fall Fillers set. I also used the postmark image from the 2010 Love Tags set to make the jar label. A little snippet of a paper doily, inked to show detail, and VOILA! :)

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):

Stamps: Friendship Jar, Friendship Jar Fall Fillers, 2010 Love Tags
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Scarlet Jewel
Paper: Sweet Blush, Scarlet Jewel, Stampers Select White

Love Lives Here

I am a big fan of PTI Design Team member Melissa Phillips. There is such a beautiful, unqiue style about her work. Recently, she unveiled the first PTI stamp set based on her ideas and concepts, called Love Lives Here. As soon as I saw the first peek, I knew I had to have it. It is all that I hoped it would be and more. Packed with versatility. LOVE it. Here is one of the cards I have made with the set. Be prepared to see ALOT more of this set on my blog. :)
