You're My Universe {Paper Smooches}

Hello there!  Today I have a card to share that I made for the current Paper Smooches SPARKS sketch challenge...

I used this sketch:

I don't have near enough boy cards in my stash... Even though I have 2 boys and a husband, I still gravitate to all things pink and girly.  I pulled out one of my PS faves, Space Cadet for this card.

You're My Universe

I masked off the bottom right of the card and inked with distress ink.  Then I stamped, colored, and fussy cut the little alien and planets from the Space Cadet set.  I dressed up the alien with a googly eyeball and added some glossy accents to his spaceship.  My son is learning about the Solar System right now, and loving it... I think this card might just be for him :)

I'm also going to enter this in the SSS Wednesday Challenge - Anything Goes

That's all for now!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Stamps: Paper Smooches Space Cadet
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Ranger Tumbled Glass, Faded Jeans

I thank my lucky stars... {Mama Elephant}

Hello there!  I just got my January Mama Elephant order and wanted to dig into my new goodies! I love anything relating to stars and celestial themes, and as soon as I saw the new Shooting Star stamp set, it went onto my wishlist.  As soon as I could order it, it went into my cart.  Haha!

I am also so inspired by shaker cards, but they sort of terrify me.  I have never had much luck with them, UNTIL I got myself a pair of teflon coated scissors.  No more tape sticking to the blades.  Um, where have I been?!  There will be more shakers in my future for sure!

Shooting Star

This card has several layers.  I started off with a white card base and then used the Peek a Frames die set to cut an A2 stitched rectangle from patterned paper.  Then I used the Femme Frames dies to cut the scalloped layer and the smaller rectangle.  I used the medium star from the the PTI Seeing Stars die collection to cut a shaker window in the small rectangle.  Then I used the largest star from the same die set cut from Berry Sorbet.  After I cut the large star, I centered the medium star on that diecut and cut again, making a frame.  Then I glued the frame around the shaker window. I backed the window with clear acetate and used the Lots of Stars die, the smiling star from the Shooting Star stamp set, and some sequins to fill the shaker.  I stamped some tiny stars from the stamp set on the backer panel using my new Moonlight ink before closing up the shaker.  I stamped, colored, and diecut the little girl and popped her on the card front using foam tape and then added some more sequins and tiny stars scattered on the outside of the shaker.

Here is a closeup of the inside...

I am going to enter this card into a few challenges...

PTI January Blog Hop and MIM #198

Hi there!  Today I have a last minute entry for the Papertrey Ink January Blog Hop and the Make-it-Monday Challenge #198.

The Blog Hop challenge this month is hearts!

I love making Valentine's Day cards, and this particular one is for my almost two year old niece.

Be My Valentine

It was fun digging through my stash for all of my heart themed products!  I used some Simple Valentine patterned paper for this 3 panel card.  I think I will be making lots more of these cards!  So fun!!  I added a diecut hearts border along the top flap of the card and then diecut some Limitless Layers Hearts for the focal point of my card.  The cute little cat is from Cat's Meow... sooner or later I'll be able to stamp that cat on her diecut perfectly.  LOL! The sentiment is from Tremendous Treats Valentine, and the cute little clothespin is from the Dollar Spot at Target.

That's all for now!  Thanks for stopping by!!

Simon Says Stamp Flickr Challenge #10

Hello there!  Today I have a card to share with you for the

The theme of this challenge is:
I find that I do not often have many mailable cards on hand.  I am a bit addicted to foam tape and layers, and that doesn't always lend well to dropping cards in the mailbox.  I challenged myself to create an (almost) flat panel card for this challenge.

I used the SSS Hand Lettered Winter Wishes stamp set and stamped the sentiment on a white panel diecut with Mama Elephant Femme Frames dies.  Then I added a few other small images from that same stamp set in Versafine Black Onyx ink.  I used one of the small single dot images from PTI Polka Dot Basics to create a bokeh effect using first and second generation images in several ink colors.  Then I matted that panel on black cardstock and popped the panel up with foam squares.

My Favorite Things Sketch Challenge #211 and Curtain Call Challenge

Hi there! Today I have a card to share with you that I am entering into two challenges.  I used this sketch:

And I was inspired by the theme and colors in this photo:

I'm also linking to the current ColourQ challenge:

I first diecut a piece of Rustic Cream cardstock using the Femme Frames dies from Mama Elephant, then I stamped the MFT Sweater Stitch Background in PTI Fine Linen Ink.  I diecut a circle from that panel and put some Lawn Fawn Sweater Weather patterned paper behind it.  Then I stamped, colored and diecut those adorable kitties and milk bottle from the Mama Elephant Purrfect Pair stamps set.  The sentiment is also from that set, and it is stamped on the ME Bold Banner diecut.  I used foam squares to adhere panel to a Fine Linen scalloped diecut also from the Femme frames die set.  Then I diecut some tiny hearts using the SSS Mini Hearts dies and added a bow with some twine. The entire panel is mounted on a kraft card base.

A moment with you

Lawnscaping Challenge #98 - Create a Background

Hello there!  Time for another Lawnscaping Challenge!  Challenge #98 is to create a background using your Lawn Fawn stamps, and the sponsor for this challenge is none other than the super fabulous Lawn Fawn

For my card today, I dug through my stamps looking for a fun way to use an unlikely stamp to create a background.  I had just gotten the Hello Sunshine stamp set, and had it sitting on my desk when I saw the long line stamp in the set and decided to make some fun wonky plaid as my background.  The best thing about this plaid is that is quick and easy and it's so cute!  You can easily get a great an imperfect result which lends so well to Lawn Fawn's whimsical style.  I simply inked up the line image in hot pink ink, stamping it several times horizontally on the card front, only eyeballing the distance between each stamp.  Once I had completed the horizontal stripes, I turned the card it's side and stamped what would be the vertical stripes.  I find it easier to turn the card front rather than try to stamp vertical stripes on a vertical card front (clear as mud, right?)  After I'd completed pink stripes in both directions, I chose another ink color and repeated the process, stamping fairly close to the pink lines.  I love that it is not perfect and a little wonky!  Once my plaid background was complete, I diecut and stamped a white stitched journaling card to create a fun scene.  The birds and balloons are popped up on foam tape.  So glad to have dies for this stamp set! :)

Oh Happy Day

Lawnscaping Challenge #97 - Winter Themed Pinterest Inspired

Hello there!  Welcome to the first Lawnscaping Challenge of 2015!  This one is a fun one!  Look on pinterest and find some winter themed inspiration for your project!

We have a new sponsor for 2015!  This challenge is sponsored by Ellen Hutson!

For my project, I chose this photo as the inspiration for my card.  I just love the blue and purple combination and the purple trees.  So fun!

I used on of my favorite Lawn Fawn Sets, Snow Day and the bear from Love You S'more to create this little scene.  The sky was created using distress inks and the sentiment and snowflakes were heat embossed with white embossing powder.  The large trees were inked with 2 shades of purple ink to add some interest.
