Framed Layout - Cheyanne & Dixie

I'm back today with a birthday gift for my sister. She just got married and doesn't have any children, but her furbabies, Cheyanne and Dixie, are spoiled rotten :) She sent me this picture on my cell phone the other day, and I knew I had to do something with it! I love doing framed layouts and giving them as gifts. I sure hope she likes it! :)

Christmas in July Challenge

Jill over at Angillic Creations posted a Christmas in July challenge for the entire month of July, and I chose to participate. I decided to go with a non-traditional color scheme, and I kind of like it :) The challenge continues until July 31st, so there's still time to join in!! You can see all of the details on Jill's blog: http://anjilliccreations.blogspot.com/2010/07/jills-first-annual-christmas-in-july.html

Here is my entry :)

I didn't want too much going on to take away from the plaid background, so I just added a small sentiment strip at the bottom using PTI's new Just the Ticket die and stamp set.

Supplies: (All PTI unless noted)
Cardstock: Enchanted Evening, Stampers Select White
Ink: Enchanted Evening, Hawaiian Shores, Lavender Moon, Plum Pudding
Stamps: Distressed Stripes, Sign Language, Just the Ticket
Other: Just the Ticket die

A Rustic Thank You

With my latest Papertrey Ink order, I got the Distressed Stripes stamp set. After seeing the versatility with this set, I knew I had to have it. Well, that and the fact that I am a sucker for anything with a distressed finish. I love anything with an old, rustic feel, and so, when I sat down today to make a thank you card, I couldn't wait to try out this awesome set. I can see myself using it ALOT. I also took my PTI Sign Language set for a test drive. I'd been planning to sell it (since I have had it nearly a year and it's gone untouched), but I think I will hang on to it *wink*

Supplies: (All Papertrey Ink unless noted)

Cardstock: Kraft, Stampers Select White, Scarlet Jewel, Spring Moss

Ink: Scarlet Jewel, Ripe Avocado, Spring Miss, Tea Dye Duo

Stamps: Distressed Stripes, Sign Language, Flutterby Friend, Beautiful Blooms

Other: Rustic Twine, Marvvy Oval Punch

I am so excited! This is my first blog hop post! Every month, the gang at Papertrey Ink posts a challenge for their monthly blog hop, and for the month of July, we were challenged to use office supplies on our project! I decided to use a bunch of my favorite PTI stamp sets, and snuck in a tiny file folder, and a jumbo paperclip. I gotta tell ya, this definately was a challenge, and it stumped me for quite awhile. Here is the end result:

Here is a peek inside the mini file folder on the front :)

And finally, a look inside... A good spot for a handwritten note! :)

My new craft room!

Before I share some of my projects with you, I wanted to share pictures of my new work space! I am super excited about my very pink, super girly, crafting haven. In a house full of boys, I don't get to see very much of my favorite color. When my dear, sweet husband agreed to let me take over half of the guest room, I jumped on it right away!! :) I am still not quite done organzing, and I have to find a few more things to hang on the walls, but I am making decent progress. In the other half of the room, which you can't see in the pictures, there is an antique chair and a full sized bed for guests. Here she is... I am so proud!!

After searching for the perfect shade of pink for the walls, I settled on Behr Watermelon Pink, from Home Depot. It is the perfect shade of vibrant pink, not too red, purple or orange. It is so bright and fun! My husband made the table himself! We had saved the table top from our old kitchen table when we got our new one. It had been sitting in the garage for the better part of 2 years, waiting to be used for the perfect project. He but it in half length wise, and then cut self supporting braces to anchor it to the wall. Of course, I used this room as an excuse to make a trip to IKEA for super cheap organizational stuff! For less than $60, I got my pink chair, the metal bar, baskets and pink buckets on the left wall, and the adorable little jars that house my buttons. The pink stacking drawers under the desk on the left are from Walmart and the pink storage boxes under the desk on the right are from KMart (not sure if they are still available still as I have had them for a few years). I came across these cute plastic placemats at Target on clearance for $.25, and thought that they would make perfect craft mats. I can work on them, and once they get all inked up, I can toss them and get new ones. :)

I was in Michael's one day looking for ideas and stumbled upon a huge 18x30 print by Robin Constable Hanson. Not only did I get it with my 40% off coupon, but the colors are a perfect compliment to the Watermelon Pink
walls. It definately holds sentimental value to me though, as my Nana's favorite flowers were Pansies. I know she would just love it! *smile*

Just last week was my 30th birthday, and I had been wanting to get a die cutting and embossing machine for some time. I did lots of research and settled on the Cuttlebug. I was all set to ask my husband to pick me one up at Michaels, and THEN, I found out that HSN.com offers a PINK Cuttlebug bundle! Happy Birthday to Meeeeeeee! :D It is a great little gadget, and even greater cause it is so pretty in pink.

Right now, I have a beautiful bouquet of bright flowers in my craft room, and I love looking at them. They make me happy. It looks as if they were grown especially to be put in *my* room. One of my very best friends gave them to me for my birthday. She knows me so well. I will be so sad to see them go, but I made sure to take lots of pictures of them so I can continue to enjoy them. I will probably get one of the pictures framed and hang it in my room. Aren't they gorgeous?!?!

And finally, I will close this post with a picture of the vicious attack dogs that I have trained to protect my girly haven. *wink* I'd like you to meet Gunner and Sierra, my two precious Cocker Spaniels, who are in desperate need of a haircut and a bath right now. They can't wait to get into my room, and spend their time in there with me, lounging on the bright pink shag throw rug that they think was made especially for them. :)
