February Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

It's time again for the Papertrey Ink monthly bloghop! This month's challenge:

Sensational Scallops!

This month we decided to dedicate the Blog Hop to scallops! We want to see your best use of scallops, of any sort, on a project! This can include scalloped borders, offset-scallops, stamped scallops, scalloped mats, scalloped frames, layered scallops, scalloped tags or anything else you can dream up! You can use dies, patterned scissors or even circle punches in a row to achieve your special look. We are looking forward to seeing all of your amazing creations!

I am super excited to share my project with you today! Even more than papercrafting, I love making 3D projects with my stamps and supplies. It all started when I went to Target the other day and found the workers stocking the Dollar Spot with bright colorful spring goodies! Now, I LOVE Target, and LOVE the Dollar Spot. My friends actually make fun of me for it! LOL! Anyway, I came across some adorable little birdhouses on stakes, meant for sticking in a potted plant as a cute little embellishment. I was drawn to the beautiful colors (they had lime green, bright pink, periwinkle blue and orange) but they looked a little well, boring otherwise. I figured for $1 each, if I didn't end up doing anything with them, I wasn't going to break the bank ;) So I grabbed a pink one (duh!) and a green one, and went on my merry way. I started thinking about the blog hop challenge, and then it came to me... I used my PTI Banner Borders dies (the scalloped one), cut out 10 of them, inked them up, and stuck them on the roof of the birdhouse. SHINGLES!! :D Of course, you can't have a birdhouse without any birds, and PTI's Little Bitty Bird stamps (one of my faves!!) are the perfect scale for this little house (which only measures about 2.5" x 3.5"). Using the coordinating die, I used the two largest birds, paper-pieced their little wings and colored them with copic markers. Then I made the tiny little banner from PTI Coasterboard and the double ended banner die, and stamped it with one of the sentiments from Little Bitty Bird and the gingham stamp from the new Bitty Background Blocks stamp set. Some moss and raffia, and a coat of Mod Podge to seal everything, and it was done! :) I am just thrilled with how it turned out and I plan to go clean out the Dollar Spot of birdhouses to make for Mother's Day presents :)

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Little Bitty Bird, Bitty Background Blocks
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black, Clearbox Creamy Brown, Dark Chocolate
Paper: Stampers Select White, Happy Spots, Coasterboard
Dies: Little Bitty Bird, Banner Borders, Love Lives Here (heart)
Other: Coasterboard, Copic Markers, Mod Podge, Pop Dots, Raffia, Reindeer Moss (Dollar Tree), Wooden Birdhouse (Target Dollar Spot), Dark Chocolate Bakers Twine, Sakura Stardust Pen, Hot glue gun
