February Papertrey Ink Blog Hop!

It's time again for the Papertrey Ink monthly bloghop! This month's challenge:

Sensational Scallops!

This month we decided to dedicate the Blog Hop to scallops! We want to see your best use of scallops, of any sort, on a project! This can include scalloped borders, offset-scallops, stamped scallops, scalloped mats, scalloped frames, layered scallops, scalloped tags or anything else you can dream up! You can use dies, patterned scissors or even circle punches in a row to achieve your special look. We are looking forward to seeing all of your amazing creations!

I am super excited to share my project with you today! Even more than papercrafting, I love making 3D projects with my stamps and supplies. It all started when I went to Target the other day and found the workers stocking the Dollar Spot with bright colorful spring goodies! Now, I LOVE Target, and LOVE the Dollar Spot. My friends actually make fun of me for it! LOL! Anyway, I came across some adorable little birdhouses on stakes, meant for sticking in a potted plant as a cute little embellishment. I was drawn to the beautiful colors (they had lime green, bright pink, periwinkle blue and orange) but they looked a little well, boring otherwise. I figured for $1 each, if I didn't end up doing anything with them, I wasn't going to break the bank ;) So I grabbed a pink one (duh!) and a green one, and went on my merry way. I started thinking about the blog hop challenge, and then it came to me... I used my PTI Banner Borders dies (the scalloped one), cut out 10 of them, inked them up, and stuck them on the roof of the birdhouse. SHINGLES!! :D Of course, you can't have a birdhouse without any birds, and PTI's Little Bitty Bird stamps (one of my faves!!) are the perfect scale for this little house (which only measures about 2.5" x 3.5"). Using the coordinating die, I used the two largest birds, paper-pieced their little wings and colored them with copic markers. Then I made the tiny little banner from PTI Coasterboard and the double ended banner die, and stamped it with one of the sentiments from Little Bitty Bird and the gingham stamp from the new Bitty Background Blocks stamp set. Some moss and raffia, and a coat of Mod Podge to seal everything, and it was done! :) I am just thrilled with how it turned out and I plan to go clean out the Dollar Spot of birdhouses to make for Mother's Day presents :)

PTI: Make it Monday Challenge: Vellum Sentiment Strip

This week's PTI Make it Monday Challenge is to create a project using a Vellum sentiment strip. Click the box above to be linked to the challenge.

For this card, I also tried another new technqiue. I took a plain paper doily, and colored in the holes of the doily and then traced the outline and cut it out. There were gaps of space, so I stamped a tiny little heart in those places to fill them. I also used one of my favorite PTI stamp sets, Flutterby Friend.

Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Flutterby Friend, Little Bitty Bird, Love Loves Here
Paper: Soft Stone CS, Hibiscus Burst CS
Ink: Momento Tuxedo Black
Other: Paper Doily (to trace), Copic Makers, Sakura Stardust Pen, Vellum Paper, Kaisercraft Rhinestones, Pop Dots

Tiny Treats for my tiny valentines...

Just wanted to share some tiny treats for my smallest valentines, my kiddos, Logan and Joshua.

Logan's favorite color is green, and he loves anything with animals. His room has a jungle animal theme, and he gets so excited about little surprise goodies like this. Here is his valentine:

Joshua's favorite color is blue, and he LOVES anything having to do with the ocean. His bedroom is bright blue, with lots of cool pictures of sharks (his favorite). I couldn't find any sharks, but I think he will be just as pleased with his whale :)

A Valentine's Tag

I bought an adorable miniature rose plant for my mom for Valentine's Day, and had to dress it up of course! :) I couldn't get a decent picture of the entire plant, but it has the most beautiful little fragile pink roses.

I made a pretty large tag, the size of the entire one side of the pot. Of course, it had to be pink to match ;)

Stamps: Tiny Treats Christmas, Love Lives Here, 2010 Love Tags
Ink: Scarlet Jewel, Dark Chocolate
Paper: Hibiscus Burst, Scarlet Jewel, Stampers Select White CS, Happy Spots PP, Distressed Dots PP
