Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop!
It's time for the Papertrey Ink August Blog Hop! This month, we were challenged to use this photo as inspiration for our project:
I had a terrible time getting good photos of my card. I used Versamark in on the background images, and it is just impossible to capture. It looks much more obvious in person. I used the Mehndi Medallion Stamp Set with Versamark ink on Fine Linen cardstock to mimic the pattern on the side of the suitcase. Then I diecut and stamped the Flower Fusion #3 flowers to make a bouquet and added leaves using PTI Leaf Ribbon. The sentiment is stamped on the Double Ended Banner diecut.
In this flash photo, you can sort of see the background better:
And the flower bouquet:

Make it Monday #29 - Freestyle Copic Coloring
Can you tell the kiddos are back to school? Two posts in one day?!?! LOL!
This weeks PTI Make It Monday Challege says it's ok to color outside the lines!! :)
I used the paintbrushes from the Friendship Jar Fillers stamp set and a sentiment from Happy Trails to make this super quick card! I just stamped the image, scribbled some color outside the lines of the paintbrush tips, and used the Copic colorless blender to make the colors look watercolored. A few swipes of a black ink pad along the edges, and then I popped the image panel up on foam dimensionals. Quick, easy, and FUN! :)
Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Friendship Jar Fillers, Happy Trails
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black
Paper: Stampers Select White
Other: Copic Markers, Pop Dots

A Cherry Sweet Birthday
Today we are going to a birthday party for one of Logan's (girl)friends. ;)
Alyssa is turning eight, and apart from being a HUGE Justin Bieber fan, she loves all things girly. I pick up things from the Target Dollar Spot all the time without any real projects in mind, and for occasions like this. Since I have all boys, I don't really keep up with what is the "in" girl thing, but keeping coordinating goodies on hand, it is pretty easy (and fun) to create a cute gift in no time.
We got Alyssa the Justin Beiber DVD (not pictured), but I wanted to put some other things with it, so I dug through my stash and found a few things I thought she might like. I had been itching to use my Papertrey Ink Fruit Fusion: Cherries stamp set for awhile now, and this was the perfect opportunity. The tote bag, clipboard, notepad, and pink polkadot box are all from the Tagret Dollar Spot. I dressed up some movie theatre sized boxes of candy for her to enjoy while watching her new movie, and inside the pink box, there are mini sized Cherry scented goodies from Bath and Body Works that I picked up over the summer. Then I made a matching postcard style card for her. I just love that the tote bag can double as a gift bag, and used again later.
That's it for now... off to the lake for her party! :)
Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stmaps: Fruit Fusion: Cherries, Sweet as Can Be, Polka Dot Basics
Ink: Memento Tuxedo Black, Raspberry Fizz, New Leaf
Paper: Stampers Select White, New Leaf
Dies: FF #5
Other: Raspberry Fizz Satin Ribbon, Fresh Snow Twill Ribbon, Twinery Twine, Cherry Themed goodies from the Target Dollar Spot

Back to School Treat Jars
Back again with another project using the MIM Glitter Window techique at PTI this week. After seeing the cute treat jars that my buddy Ted made for his coworkers, I wanted to make some for the boys' teachers. We go to "Meet the Teacher Day" at school next week and they will be able to give these to their new teachers then. I haven't gotten the candy yet, so just pretend it's in there. LOL!
And here is a close up of the cards that I made using the Lunchbox Note die, the Apple die and stamp set , and the Glitter Window Technique.
Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Fruit Fusion: Apple, Polkadot Basics, Vintage Picnic

My first 2011 Christmas card!
Loving the MIM techniques shared at PTI this week, and I am feeling inspired! :) I tried to do the glitter window with this one too, but it was a little too much, so I saved that window for another project ;)
I won the Holiday Tree stamp set from PTI a few months back and wanted to break it in. I think it will be my stamp set of choice for our Christmas cards this year. I love the rustic country feel.
Last year, I made a bunch of patterned paper using the Distressed Stipes stamp set, and came across it so I decided to use it for this card.
The inside:
Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Holiday Tree, Distressed Stripes
Paper: Stampers Select White, Scarlet Jewel, Kraft
Ink: Fresh Snow, Scarlet Jewel, Ripe Avocado, Spring Moss, Tea Dye Duo, Memento Tuxedo Black

More Make It Monday!
Back today with more Glitter Windows and Decreasing Apertures. I am hooked! I even placed an order the other day for more glitter. Expect to see lots of sparkles here for awhile ;)
This birthday card is for my cousin Pam, who will celebrate a 40-something birthday next month. I took a break from my normal bright colors, and went for something more Pamela's style.
The lighting isn't too great in this one, but it shows off the glitter window nicely...
And a closeup of the layered butterfly:
Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Butterfly Dreams, Beautiful Blooms
Ink: Ripe Avocado, Memento Rich Cocoa, Tea Dye Duo
Paper: Rustic Cream, Melon Berry

PTI Make it Monday # 26 - Decreasing Apertures & Glitter Windows
This week's PTI Make It Monday Challenge is all about decreasing apertures and glitter windows.
I love the glitter window technique! Using the Fruit Fusion: Berry stamp set and some prisma glitter, I created a card using this technique, and it almost looks like a sugared strawberry.
A closeup of the window:

Recipe Box
Awhile back, my sister hinted about wanting a recipe box, so for her birthday, I made her one. Thanks to my friend Michele, I was able to borrow Papertrey Ink's Recipe Box stamp set, and I am so thrilled with the results. I also used PTI's Friendship Jar Fillers to make a tag for the front, along with the Tag Sale #4 die.
The interior divider cards are cut from cardstock and patterened paper, but I used the Limitless Layers dies as well. For the recipe cards, I used ruled 4x6" index cards which I stamped using the Recipe Box stamp set as well. Her kitchen is done in black, white and bright green, with lots of damask prints so I chose patterned paper to coordinate. The tin itself was plain white, and metal. I got it at Michael's awhile back and used spray craft adhesive to adhere the patterned paper to the inside and outside.
I gave it to her yesterday and she was THRILLED. I just love when homemade gifts are well received! :)
Here are some pics!
Supplies (all PTI unless noted):
Stamps: Recipe Box, Recipe Box Label, Friendship Jar Filler
Paper: Stampers Select White, Simply Chartreuse, Patterned Paper from Michael's

Other: Simply Chartruese Dot, True Black Grosgrain, and other miscellaneous ribbons, Copic Markers, Elmers Spray Adhesive, 1.75" circle punch, Simply Chartreuse Button, 4x6" ruled index cards
